Ms Ramon was appointed interim chief executive officer of AngloGold Ashanti with effect from 1 September 2020. Prior to that she served as AngloGold Ashanti’s chief financial officer and has been an executive director of the company since 1 October 2014. Ms Ramon has held senior financial management and executive positions in various companies. She previously served as chief financial officer and executive director of Sasol from 2006 to 2013. Prior to this, she was CEO of Johnnic Holdings, having previously served as financial director. She serves as a director of the World Gold Council and the International Council on Mining and Metals. She previously served on the boards of MTN Group, International Federation of Accountants, Rand Refinery, Lafarge SA (France), Transnet and Johnnic Communications.
Ms Ramon is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. She was recently appointed on the Presidential Council for State Owned Enterprises in South Africa. She was nominated as a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum in 2007. Ms Ramon previously served as the chairperson of the listed companies CFO Forum in South Africa and was awarded CFO of the Year in 2018. She also previously served as a member of the Standing Advisory Committee to the International Accounting Standards Board and as deputy chair of the Financial Reporting Standards Council of South Africa.
