He previously held key\nleadership positions at BHP Group Plc\nincluding group executive and chief executive\naluminum, nickel and corporate development,\nand group executive and chief commercial\nofficer. He was the former CEO of Cerrej\u00f3n\nCoal Company, an integrated thermal coal\nmine in Colombia and CEO of the Colombian\noil company, Ecopetrol, as well as holding\nsenior leadership positions in the\nInternational Monetary Fund and the\nColombian government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-teal-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-teal-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Skills and attributes which support strategy and long-term success<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Alberto has a deep understanding of the\nmining industry and has held extensive\nleadership positions in the natural resources\nsector. Upon completion of the corporate restructuring, AngloGold Ashanti plc became the successor issuer to AngloGold Ashanti Limited and all members of the AngloGold Ashanti Limited Board of Directors became members of the AngloGold Ashanti plc Board of Directors. Appointment and tenure is shown from the date the director joined the AngloGold Ashanti Limited Board.
