Our operations rely heavily on both Information and Operational Technology, and the evolution of both presents opportunities to drive innovation while staying ahead in a rapidly-changing landscape. The increasing risks linked to advancing technologies necessitate that we scrutinise each new digital technology prior to its adoption. We deploy new technology only where it has measurable benefits and when it is safe to integrate into our closely monitored systems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the year, significant advancements were made in our Operational Technology programme with our \u2018Manage, Detect, and Respond\u2019 capabilities extended across environments. Furthermore, we reinforced our Cyber Safety governance framework by aligning with industry best practices, including Sarbanes-Oxley Act controls and frameworks such as Cobit, NIST, COSO, ISO 31000, and ISO 27000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-56765bef2b6c30267536f12acc9a64b5\">Framework and strategy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the last three years, we have developed a\nrigorous technology evaluation and management\nmodel to prevent the acquisition of unchecked\ntechnologies that put physical or digital assets at\nrisk. Our digital technology strategy integrates\ngovernance practices and risk management\nmethodologies to ensure asset security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the heart of this strategy is the Opportunity\nFramework. This framework sets out the process\nfor decision making and management of\ntechnology-related risks while aligning initiatives\nwith corporate objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-25aad9ce76f71ae68b6fc105624508fe\">Pre-adoption evaluation and risk mitigation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Digital technology adoption is a strategic\nconsideration that is centralised, rather than\ndelegated to different regions or functions. All\nproposals, regardless of size, must go through\nthe Opportunity Framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Requests are funnelled through our VP, Strategy and Governance, whose team ensures the business case is well understood. The Project Management Office under this VP is responsible for project management from budget to delivery and making sure projects align with Group objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The opportunity is then reviewed by solution and\nenterprise architects, with final review by the SVP,\nDigital Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigations involve cyber reviews on the\nproduct and the supplier, as well as an\nassessment of the skills required to use and\nmaintain the technology internally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recognise that not all solutions require\ncutting-edge technology; sometimes the answer\nrequires innovative thinking or process-orientated\nsolutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b58ca9295a0ff4d1b15597098dde1763\">Governance and oversight \u2014 addressing\ndigital security at Board level<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Board has entrusted the oversight of digital\ntechnology to the Audit and Risk Committee. The\nCommittee is kept informed about cyber matters,\nincluding the prevention and detection of threats,\nmitigation strategies, and post-incident\nremediation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SVP, Digital Technology provides updates\ndirectly to the Audit and Risk Committee, and\ncyber has been incorporated into the mandates\nof Group Risk Management and Group Internal\nAudit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Annual risk assessments are integrated into our\nCompany-wide risk management system, and\nannual audits are conducted by internal and\nexternal providers. Disaster Recovery plans are in\nplace and tested annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-0ebeda6715cb19d0bd0efbfd524f1b61\">Around-the-clock surveillance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The complexity of the cyber landscape means we continually aim to strengthen our monitoring. Our internal team is augmented by a 24-hour thirdparty\nSecurity Operations Centre for real-time\nmonitoring. The internal team, headed by the\nSVP, Digital Technology and the VP, Cyber Safety,\nwho serves as the Company\u2019s Chief Information\nSecurity Officer (CISO), work in partnership with\nthe centre and other third-party partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SVP, Digital Technology is accountable for\nthe digital technology function, while the VP,\nCyber Safety oversees the implementation of\nCyber Safety initiatives. They are supported by\nthe Cyber Risk Committee, which includes\nmembers from Internal Audit, Risk Management,\nSecurity, Safety, Compliance, and legal counsel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-6c9de931fdf12b071a1d7774c3accd07\">Mitigating supply chain risk<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AngloGold Ashanti continues to embed Cyber\nSafety standards into all third-party relationships.\nThe inclusion of a cyber clause in new vendor\ncontracts ensures service level agreements and\nroles for managing threats are established from\nthe outset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To fortify oversight, we use an established thirdparty\nrisk management solution to continuously\nmonitor and rank risks in our vendor network. We\nalso partner with providers such as the Center for\nInternet Security to gauge readiness and conduct\nperiodic penetration test exercises using\nreputable security firms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-26843f3370061b27a57f9557070d4d2e\">Ethical use of technology and artificial intelligence (AI)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we embrace new possibilities, it is crucial to\nestablish guidelines for the responsible use of\ndigital technologies. Our commitment to ethical\nconduct and compliance extends to the use of AI,\ngoverned by the Group\u2019s governance framework\nand Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The importance of digital technology governance\nis increasingly evident with the advent of AI,\nwhich can be powerful but carries new risks that\ncan require additional diligence. Unlike other\ntechnologies, AI solutions present challenges due\nto their complexity and potential for outcomes\nthat individual users may not fully seek to\nvalidate. AI also possesses the ability to learn\nfrom and further disseminate data, raising\nconcerns about privacy and data-sharing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the interim, AngloGold Ashanti requires the\ncareful management of AI-based tools; users are\nheld accountable for the outputs or impacts of\nthe outputs used and are not permitted to input\ncorporate data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The use of AI-based technology must also be\ndisclosed when presenting work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-21f1e4cb0adbba8bde1b2026d90278de\">Shared responsibility and vigilance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have aligned cyber with our commitment to\nsafety, making it a shared responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We run awareness campaigns encouraging a\nsafety-first approach to cyber matters. Working\nwith the concept of a \u2018human firewall\u2019, we\nrevitalised our strategy to empower employees to\nrecognise risks and protect our operating\nenvironments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These efforts are supported by compulsory cyber\ntraining for all employees and contractors,\nconducted via a third-party platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Looking ahead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are currently finalising our updated outlook for 2026 to ensure continued resilience and
