wp-elements-14b9ba5b17272e5af841d2bc4917e24a\">Safety: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We completed a fatality-free year and made marked\nimprovements in our TRIFR. Investment in critical risk management,\nmental health, exposure reduction, and public health programmes,\nparticularly malaria control in Africa, further reinforced operational\nresilience, workforce wellbeing and our social licence to operate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-dark-green-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-d885abeec3bcdb986b91ef3beb1f9c72\">People: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Work continued to enhance how we attract, develop and retain\ntalent, while identifying opportunities to further embed fair, consistent\nand transparent practices into our systems and processes. Our aim\nremains ensuring a safe, inclusive and equitable workplace for all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-dark-green-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-d94e834b00cba044cb76d0dfffd352ed\">Communities: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Building community resilience is a key pillar of our\ncommunity and social performance approach. It strengthens our social\nlicence to operate and supports long-term value creation across our\ndiverse portfolio. Implementation of our social licence to operate\nassessment matrix continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-dark-green-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-564c118f34d6769517b2d4e8b5af94e9\">Tailings management: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We advanced GISTM conformance, strengthened\nrelated governance, progressed new and planned facilities in Ghana and\nTanzania, proactively managed site-specific environmental and safety\nmatters, and achieved a major decharacterisation milestone in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-dark-green-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-99026554c7d3f91ae1205ee50baa6c6c\">Energy transition: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We continued to decarbonise our energy footprint,\nand reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on carbonintensive\nfuels. Understanding climate-related vulnerabilities is essential\nin building resilience and we commissioned next-generation climate\nmodelling to enhance the accuracy of our long-term scenario planning\nand support adaptive risk management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-dark-green-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ab9995fa80001e6a58e7fed0a20ac29a\">Biodiversity: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our biodiversity programme continued to mature. It\ncovers specialist work to align with ICMM\u2019s commitment to no\nnet biodiversity loss against a 2020 baseline by the closure of\ncurrent operations. This approach ensures our environmental\nplanning not only meets regulatory requirements but also\nsupports long-term ecological resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-dark-green-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-fb298169b69f8c7762a3e9bf88014353\">Water: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Multiple initiatives are underway to improve water\nefficiency, strengthen catchment partnerships and support\ncommunities affected by changing hydrological patterns. In 2026,\nour focus is on completing our 2025 and 2026 water stewardship\nprojects to ensure goals are achieved and performance gains\nsustained. We will also explore development of unique, contextbased,\ntailored water metrics, while integrating the final\nConsolidated Mining Standard Initiative (CMSI) requirements into\nour updated Water Management Standard to strengthen\ngovernance and align with emerging best practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-dark-green-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2c7977554ddc185b5f86e6f763b5a048\">ASM:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rising gold prices and widespread informal trading have led to increased global ASM activity. Developing a sustainable, multi-stakeholder approach to ASM requires extensive collaboration across industries, governments and borders.
