The year in review was an extraordinary one for our industry and for AngloGold Ashanti, with the confluence of macro-economic and geopolitical factors driving an unprecedented year-on-year increase in the gold price. Additionally, AngloGold Ashanti\u2019s shares outperformed the gold price by close to five times, and \u2013 perhaps more importantly \u2013 we outpaced major diversified miners by a factor of two to one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delivering on our promises<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The share price performance showed, in many ways, a year in which the hard work of the past four years was recognised by the market. There was wide recognition in particular of our efforts at unit-cost control, with a fourth consecutive year of total cash costs per ounceAPM<\/sup> remaining largely flat in real terms, while that of our peers* rose by around 24% in real terms on average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During 2025, we continued to strengthen the\nfoundations established in prior years as we\noptimised our corporate architecture, made\nstep change improvements in safety,\nmaintained tight cost management,\nimplemented one of the industry\u2019s most\ncompetitive capital allocation frameworks,\nand sharpened our focus on execution\nacross the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are the building blocks for a\ncompetitively valued global gold mining\nbusiness and have helped us to capture the\nbenefits of the sharply higher gold price,\nwhich was 45% higher on average in 2025\nversus the prior year. The marked\noutperformance of our equity versus our\nmajor peers during 2025 reflects that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we obviously welcome a robust price\nenvironment, my message to our global\nteams remains unchanged: stay focused on\nthe basics; we do not, and cannot, manage\nour Company based on the expectation of\ncontinued higher gold prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we navigate this volatile world, our\neffort remains resolutely focused on those\nfactors within our control. Our aim is to\nprovide investors with a reliable, high-margin\nvehicle that provides a good return and\ncaptures the full upside of the gold market\nthrough operational excellence, cost\ndiscipline, and project delivery. In 2025,\nwe did exactly that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safety and values: our foundation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is no better place to start a review of\nthe year than to highlight our performance in\nsafety, our first and most important value.\nA relentless focus on safety is not only\nconsistent with our values, and the right\nthing to do, it is also the ultimate lead\nindicator of operational health; safe mines\nare productive mines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, we achieved a total recordable injury frequency rate of 0.97 per million hours worked at our managed operations, the lowest in our Company\u2019s history and still significantly better than the ICMM peer average. While we celebrate this milestone, we do so with the humility of a company that has worked for years to eliminate the scourge of workplace fatalities, knowing full well that we are only ever as good as our last injury-free day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building a track record of reliability<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We had exceptional performances from\nmost of our managed assets, including\nSiguiri, Geita, Sukari, Cerro Vanguardia and\nObuasi, which continued to make progress\nin its ramp-up to full production. These\nassets again showcased cost discipline, and\nthe importance of clear execution plans as\nthey posted strong performances versus\ntheir plans for the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A global mining company of our scale will\ninevitably encounter its share of\nunanticipated challenges and exogenous\nrisks, ranging from the weather to surprises\nin geology, changes in the overall political\nenvironment, among other things. The\nmeasure of success is how we respond to\nthese disruptions while still delivering on our\ncommitments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025, we suspended production at Obuasi for more than a week to reduce risk to the safety of employees amidst unrest in the aftermath of a clash between public security forces and illegal miners attempting to unlawfully access our site. To read more on this, see our 2025 Sustainability Report<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We suspended the plant at Iduapriem for\nseveral weeks in the first half of the year to\nmend a tear in the lining of our tailings\nstorage facility (TSF), and also at Siguiri in\nthe second half of the year to resolve\nseepage along a small portion of the TSF\nwall following significant rainfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Tanzania, following nationwide violence\nduring and after the national elections, we\ntwice suspended operations at our Geita\nmine during the fourth quarter to limit staff\ntravelling to and from site. In each case, the\ndecision was clear cut \u2013 to take the\nconservative approach and sacrifice\nproduction to ensure the safety of our\npeople and our communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nonetheless, we managed for the fifth\nconsecutive year to meet production\nguidance and kept costs flat in real terms.\nConsistency is the hallmark of a Tier-One\ngold producer, and the cornerstone for our\nongoing project to build our credibility with\nthe market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We delivered 3.1Moz of gold production, a\n16% increase year-on-year, driven by a full\nyear of contribution from Sukari, the\ncontinued ramp-up of Obuasi, year-on-year\ngrowth from Geita, Cuiab\u00e1, Cerro Vanguardia\nand Siguiri, and a number of solid\nperformances across our managed portfolio.\nThis result is a triumph of initiative, planning,\nhard work and collaboration among the\nthousands of employees and contractors\nwho work each day on our sites across\nthe world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crucially, we maintained our key focus on costs. Despite global inflationary pressures and the impact of higher royalties, which rose with the gold price, our total cash costsAPM<\/sup> and AISCAPM<\/sup> for our managed operations remained almost flat in real terms. This came despite sharply higher royalty payments and the strengthening of local currencies in Brazil and Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This performance caps an extraordinary five-year run, where we have outperformed most of our major peers, who on average have seen costs rise 24% in real terms versus our\n4% rise, against a 2021 baseline when we\nlaunched our new strategy. This has helped\nclose a relative performance gap that had\ngrown to unacceptable levels in the\npreceding years. Our cost leadership is a\ndirect result of our focus on efficiency and\ntestament to the success of our FAP\nprogramme, which has made us more\nefficient, more predictable and more\nresilient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financial excellence and disciplined growth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The combination of higher volumes, our unstinting cost discipline and a robust gold price translated into a catalogue of new financial records. Adjusted EBITDAAPM<\/sup> more than doubled to $6.3bn, its highest ever, and free cash flowAPM<\/sup> tripled to a record $2.9bn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This performance allowed us to end 2025 in our strongest balance sheet position in AngloGold Ashanti\u2019s history, with $879m in adjusted net cash, after returning a record $1.3bn to shareholders in total dividends paid for the year. The 2025 total dividend declaration of $1.8bn to shareholders \u2013 more than 50% of free cash flowAPM<\/sup> in 2025 \u2013 shows our confidence in the outlook for our business and is another key part of our overall effort to be the gold mining equity of choice for investors as we narrow the valuation gap that had long existed with our peers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The future: Nevada and brownfield expansion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We have entered 2026 with a clear roadmap for growth. In Nevada, the Arthur Gold Project (formerly the Expanded Silicon project) remains a cornerstone of our strategy to establish a new, low-cost production hub in a premier jurisdiction, with a first-time total Mineral Reserve declared of 4.9Moz. The completed pre-feasibility study supports an initial nine-year mine life with an estimated average annual production of approximately 500,000oz, with AISC per ounceAPM<\/sup> estimated at $954\/oz in real terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strengthening our position in the district, we\nfurther consolidated our landholding through\nthe acquisition of Augusta Gold, enhancing\ndevelopment optionality and long-term\ngrowth potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, we are excited by emerging\nbrownfield opportunities at Sukari, Geita, and\nCuiab\u00e1, which we foreshadowed in 2025 and\nplan to communicate in detail during the\ncourse of 2026. These projects are expected\nto allow us to leverage existing infrastructure\nto add high-margin ounces with lower\nexecution risk \u2013 in orebodies we understand\nand jurisdictions we know well \u2013 and returns\nthat exceed the other options currently open\nto us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our exploration success remains a standout\nin the industry. We added more than 9Moz\nof new Mineral Reserve in 2025, roughly\nthree times the amount depleted. This is\nalso the ninth consecutive year of Mineral\nReserve growth before depletion, even as we\nhave maintained gold price assumptions\namong the industry\u2019s most conservative. It is\nan enviable record which demonstrates our\nexploration team\u2019s extraordinary ability to\nconsistently replenish our mineral inventory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

AngloGold Ashanti is a fundamentally\ndifferent company than it was a few years\nago. We are leaner, more disciplined, and\nmore focused on value than volume. As we\nnavigate the current high gold price\nenvironment, we will not succumb to\ncomplacency. We will continue to sharpen\nour focus on safety, costs, operational\nexcellence, organic growth and project\nexecution to ensure that we remain the\npreferred choice for gold investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
